Tina May Sings Antonio Carlos Jobim

This loving celebration of the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim is the perfect way to create a relaxed Brazilian atmosphere. Saxophonist/arranger Robin Blakeman runs the full 8-piece concert band, which backs Tina May's warm vocals creating an authentic recreation of the Bossa Nova.

Robin Blakeman’s octet is a concert band created specifically to back Tina May. The band plays concert-style environments, including a sold-out St. Bartholomew’s Church in Brighton. On the radar for many jazz festivals, this band painstakingly recreates the original feel of the Bossa Nova movement from the 1960s.

The most recent concert inspired the audience into standing ovations, and the future looks bright for the project. Robin has lived in the Americas – both north and south – collecting many musical contacts over the years. He studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston and has lived and played around many parts of South America, absorbing the music and culture.

This band can be hired for listening situations, such as concerts in jazz clubs, jazz festivals and community events. Feel free to enquire today.
